Project Description
Kedutsolo-u, 44 years old is from Enhulumi village, Phek district in Nagaland and lives with her husband and three children. In the year 2015 CWWS selected her as one of the farmer for rearing a breeding sow for producing piglets for the market. Since then, she shares that she has received several trainings on piggery management from NEIDAs and CWWS. As she practiced what she learn from these trainings, she says that the most remarkable difference that she has seen is the difference in mortality rate of the piglets. In the past on an average at least two piglets died before reaching the weaning age of two months. However, in the last three years she has not lost any piglets. She believes that taking good care of sows and adopting good practices has helped in ending piglet mortality cases.
In 2018 seeing the performance of her sows, Kedutsolo-u was selected for setting up a mini breeding piggery unit in her village. So far her sows has farrowed 40 piglets in the last 3 three years which has bought her family an income of Rs. 2.2 lakhs. She now plans to intensify her piggery activities. Along with her husband, she plans to buy a mini truck in the near future so that they can supply the piglets to the nearby villages as well.
